Implementing Wellness Questionnaire Monitoring into your Spreadsheet

By Excel Tips

Hey everyone, wanted to show you a super simple way to implement wellness questionnaires directly into your training spreadsheets.  First, I highly recommend doing a fair bit of research on the topic, for several reasons.  You need to make sure that what you are asking is appropriate, non invasive, and helpful to your programming.  For more information and some suggested reads on this, check out this weeks coming Performance Reads of the Week!

There is two places you can put your wellness questionnaire information: before and after the training block on your spreadsheet.  Here is an example of my current training template with no wellness information entered:

By inserting a few rows, we can replace (or add) some wellness questionnaire information directly on to your training template:

Now, the information you enter will of course be dependent on what you need to know, what you are surveying for etc.  And in this case, I highly recommend doing some research on surveying methods prior to implementing this, as simply collecting the data means nothing if you don't track and use it over the course of days, weeks and months to make adjustments to your program.

However, there are several benefits to tracking the information directly on the template.  First, logistically its easy to collect the programs, copy the information to a table for future visualization.  Second, you can look at any given athletes workout and see basic trends of fatigue.  If you feel they can handle more work, increase the number of sets!  If they are showing chronic levels of high stress and tiredness, decrease the work for a bit.

In addition, you can even add some post-workout questionnaires to get a sense of the athletes response to the workout they just performed:
